COVID-19: How Rev Olusegun Alalade Distributed Over Half a Million To Nigerians

It is no news that the Corona virus epidemic is greatly affecting the balance of human existence and survival. Institutions, systems, organizations, markets and sources of livelihood have been placed on compulsory lockdown to prevent the spread of the Corona virus.

Governments have advised her citizens to sit at home in order to keep the virus from spreading. But staying at home for so many is more like a death sentence.

This is because the survival of many Nigerians is predicated on what they are able to earn from their day-to-day hustle. Telling this set of persons to sit at home is equivalent to cutting off their source of income.

With the lockdown and stay-at-home directive, more and more Nigerians are faced with an improved difficulty in surviving. The number of families that sleep hungry has greatly increased. Unable to hold the centre, social media has become a haven where pleas for support and cash donations go.

In lieu of this, some well-meaning Nigerians have been asked to provide palliatives to those who cannot afford to meet up with living standards this quarantine period.

Among the few who have accepted the call to support and provide palliatives is Rev Olusegun Alalade, Pastor-in-charge The Champions Assembly Christian Centre, Minna.

RSA as he is fondly called has with the support of a couple of well-meaning individuals supported persons and families who have less than a thousand naira in this period.

As at today, 23rd April, 2020, RSA has disbursed over half a million naira to one hundred and fifteen (115) individuals and families in a bid to providing the much needed assistance in this trying time.

Here are a few testimonies from beneficiaries of the kind gesture by Rev Olusegun:

Speaking with Rev Olusegun over Facebook messenger, he told me the next form of donations would be to widows. Only widows will participate and benefit from the next palliative giveaway.

I employ other well-meaning individuals to follow suit: support and give palliatives to persons who cannot afford to cater for themselves this period.

And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.  — Matthew 25:40 (KJV)

Truly there are families who do not have anything to see them through this period. In the little way we can, we must assist these persons and do our best to help each other push through.
