We can only know a limited version of the benefits of the secret place. I have outlined few of the benefits we can derive from the secret place of the Most High as I have seen in scriptures.
1. God's Divine Protection and Preservation
The secret place of the Most High is a channel of preservation and protection. If you read through the book of Psalm 91 you would see various promises of God as touching preservation and protection to the man who makes the the secret place his dwelling place.
In the face of the turbulence that is fiercely rocking the earth, one can not be oblivious of the fact that only Divinity can preserve and protect us. Accessing these divine preservation and protection is by the protocol of the secret place of the Most High.
King David was preserved countless times from his enemies and those who sought to kill him because he engaged the protocol of the secret place.
He said;
“One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple.” – Psalms 27:4
David spent time with God and this made him enjoy protection from the diverse attacks on his life. The formula still works even today. Spend quality time in the presence of God – the secret place of the Most High and see how God would jealousy guard your life and the lives of everyone associated and connected to you.
2. Knowledge and Understanding of the Ways of God
The secret place of the Most High is the academic facility of Heaven. It is God's institution for teaching men His ways, helping them understand Him, and bringing them into the reality of His kingdom.
David is an authority on the secret place. His book of Psalms reveals how much of a dweller of the secret place he was.
In Psalms 16:11, he said;
“Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.”
In chapter 36:9, he said;
"For with thee is the fountain of life: in the light shall we see light"
Also in chapter 144:1:
"Blessed be the LORD my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight"
In chapter 25:4-5:
"Shew me thy ways, O LORD; teach me thy paths.
Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day."
All of these are a product of dwelling in the secret place of the Most High. The ways of God are not imparted but taught and the Holy Spirit is the authorized teacher of God's word and the secret place is the academic facility for spiritual tutorials.
3. Access to Power and Authority
The prophet Elijah manifested great power and authority during his time on the earth. Once he told the King of Israel that there would be no rain and for the space of three (3) years and six (6) months there was no rain until he spoke otherwise (James 5:17-18).
He called down fire from heaven like he was calling an Uber driver. Once during his contest with the prophets of Baal in 1 Kings 18:38 he called down fire to consume the sacrifice.
On another occasion he was at the top of a hill probably communing with God and the king sent a captain and fifty soldiers to go and get the prophet, Elijah commanded fire to consume them.
Again, another captain and his fifty soldiers were sent to get Elijah and the prophet rained down fire on them. Such a feat was possible because Elijah dwelled in the secret place of the Most High. (2 Kings 1:9-12)
This earth is a field of contention. Scriptures say we wrestle not against flesh and blood (Ephesians 6:12). Whether you agree or not, we are battling spirit forces and influences and only in the secret place of the Most High can we access power to battle victoriously.
4. Access to Mercy
One of the greatest advantages of the Christian Faith is mercy. Mercy is that advantage that qualifies you for something even though you are grossly unqualified.
It is mercy that makes God leave a man who has been seeking His face, praying and fasting for months and appears to a man who is puffing his cigarette under the bridge cursing God.
Dear reader, not everything must be laboured for. Some things are gotten by the "unfair" advantage of mercy.
"It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness." — Lamentations 3:22-23
His mercies are new every morning and the only way we can access it is through the protocol of the secret place. You must spend time in the secret place to tap into the mercy allocated for that day.
5. Intimacy and Fellowship
One of the reasons why God redeemed mankind to Himself is so that we could have intimacy and fellowship with Him.
Jesus said:
"Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me." – John 15:4
God is very much interested in fostering a relationship with you. He wants you to know Him as much as He knows you. There's nothing about God He wants to keep to Himself.
The secret place of the Most High gives us a platform to be close to God. To understand Him and to walk in Him. Nothing can be more blissful like being intimate with the God of Heaven.
One benefit of being intimate with God is that He gets to call you His friend and like Abraham, He would do nothing until He tells you. Is that not a privilege worth getting? Get into the secret place to enjoy!
6. Transformation
“But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.” — 2 Corinthians 3:18
The secret place of the Most High is a place where the lives of men are transformed. It is a place where a man's life can be altered and redefined.
Luke reveals of Jesus that "As He prayed, the fashion of His countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering" (Luke 9:29)
Also, Moses, in Exodus chapter 34 verses 29 to 35, had his face glowing after spending forty (40) days in the secret place.
Your life can never be the same again when you make the secret place your dwelling place. In the secret place, God fine-tunes and chisels a man into the shape He (God) desires. Your life will enjoy the transforming power of the Spirit when you dwell in the secret place.
