Ace Music company, BoomPlay Music released their list of Top 10 Artistes according to number of plays each artist recorded and our very own gospel minstrel, Tope Alabi takes us the number one spot.
Tope Alabi recorded the highest number of plays by a Nigerian artist on BoomPlay for the year 2018 ahead of Davido, Simi, Tiwa Savage, Adekunle Gold, Tekno, Reekado Banks, Burna Boy, 2Baba Idibia, and Phyno.
It is rare to see a gospel minstrel competing with secular acts but Tope Alabi who is a Yoruba gospel minstrel not only competes with the "big goons" in the Nigerian entertainment industry but beats them to top BoomPlay's list of Top 10 Nigerian artistes according to number of plays recorded.
What this means is that, the songs of Tope Alabi were played more than the songs of any Nigerian artist in the year 2018. This goes to show that you do not have to sing secular before your voice gets heard. You do not have to compromise before you become a celebrity. With God you can conquer the world.
