Engaging Speed In Life, Ministry and Destiny

The brevity of life demands speed in the accomplishment and actualization of life's goals, purpose and in the fulfilment of destiny.

Speed is sought by all and sundry. Humans are fast researching and developing men's to make the processes of living faster.
From fast data connections to fast transport facilities to fast healthcare to fast delivery services we all need speed. Due to the short lifespan of humans everyone subscribes to the need for speed.

Over and above our need for speed and technology's advance at providing it, today I would be showing you a mystery with which you can engage divine speed in all you do.

The mystery I am about to show you is far from the scope of man's effort at engaging speed. In this face of this mystery, technology and every other human adopted system cannot stand.

To unveil this mystery, I would be using two illustrations from the lives of Prophet Elijah and King Ahab and from Jesus and His disciples.

Come with me gradually....

Prophet Elijah in 1 Kings 17 had shut the heavens over Israel from producing rain. Three and half years later God spoke to Elijah telling him that He (God) was going to send rain over Israel.

Elijah delivered God's counsel and went into a challenge with the prophets of Baal wherein he called down fire from heaven and masterminded the slaughter of four hundred and fifty (450) prophets of Baal (1 Kings 18:1-40).

Having done that, Elijah asked King Ahab to go and eat because rain was about to come heavily upon Israel (1 Kings 18:41). After making this assertion, Elijah went up mountain Carmel to pray. He prayed asking his servant to go check the weather if his (Elijah's) prayers were beginning to produce effect.

For six times Elijah's servant brought back negative responses. At the seventh sojourning to survey the weather, Elijah's servant saw a cloud the size of a man's hand. After relating this to his boss, Elijah told him to tell King Ahab to ready his chariot and go back home before the rain starts to fall. Ahab obliged immediately (1 Kings 18:45) and rode straightaway to Jezreel.

But then something shocking took place in verse 46 of 1 Kings Chapter 18. The Bible records that the hand of God came upon Elijah and he ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.

What this means is that, Elijah on foot got to Jezreel before King Ahab on his chariot even though Ahab left before Elijah. Elijah exhibited a rare nature of speed. Someone on foot arrived at a place before someone who had left before him on a chariot.

Let's also consider this illustration with Jesus and His disciples.

Jesus in Matthew 14:14-22 had a multitude come to Him. He was moved with compassion and began to minister healing to them.

Towards nightfall, His disciples came to Him and advised Him to send the crowd away so they could go into the villages and buy food. Jesus asked His disciples what they had and they brought Him five loaves of bread and two fishes which He blessed and with it fed five thousand men excluding women and children.

After the "item 7" was over and they had gathered the remnant, Jesus forced His disciples to get into the ship and cross over to the other side of the river while He dismissed the crowd which is very untypical of the 21st century Church leadership style where the General Overseer or Guest Minister leaves before anyone.

The disciples left and Jesus dismissed the crowd and then He went up the mountain to pray. By implication, while Jesus was praying, His disciples were sailing to the other side of the river.

In the fourth watch of the night (the fourth watch of the night should be around 3am to 6am), Jesus began to walk on the water towards the direction of His disciples.

I believe you are very familiar with this story. The disciples started to fret thinking they were seeing a ghost. Then Peter told Jesus if you're the one ask me to come, Jesus did so. Peter stepped out of the boat and started to walk on water but soon began to sink when he considered the battering waves.

Peter then cried out to Jesus and He helped Peter and they got back into the boat and Jesus quieted the storm that besetted the ship.

Just like Eijah, Jesus on foot having prayed for about nine (9) hours (from 6pm - 3am) caught up with His disciples who were already sailing for nine hours "walking on water".

Not only did Jesus catch up with persons who had left on a boat nine hours before Him, He broke the dynamics of surface tension as we learnt in Physics.

I am sure you already have a clue as to what this mystery I want to share today is about. The mystery I write about is prayers and how its operation produces divine speed.

From the lives of Prophet Elijah and Jesus who exhibited divine speed, defiled the laws of motion and the phenomenon of acceleration and in Jesus' case the phenomenon of surface tension we see that they both gave themselves to prayers.

The disciples were sailing for nine (9) hours, Jesus was praying for nine (9) hours but He was able to catch up with them under three (3) hours without using any specialized means of water transport.

I would like you to know that you do not waste time when you pray. Observe that both Elijah and Jesus arrived just in time. Every second you use praying is an investment for your future. Nobody who is truly given to prayers would suffer any form of retardation in life.

Every second, minute, and hour you spend praying is actually an investment. Prayers are storable just like saving money. We don't waste time praying, we invest time praying.

How do I know prayers are storable?

"And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odors, which are the prayers of saints." – Revelation 5:8

For you to engage speed in life and destiny you must diligently yield to prayers.
Jesus and Elijah exemplified this principle and mystery. They gave themselves to prayers and they were able to engage supersonic speed and catch up with persons who had gone ahead of them.

It doesn't matter how much progress your mates have enjoyed. Even if they have gone 10 years ahead of you when you engage the mystery of prayer you're guaranteed divine speed.

Elijah was faster than the best of Israel's chariot. You know the chariot of the King of Israel had to be the best. Yet a man on foot was faster than the King on his chariot.

Jesus' disciples left without Him but they needed Him to get to the destination. No matter how successful people become, they'd always need someone who is spiritual at various instances of thier lives.

Peter, James and John were expert fishermen yet they could not salvage the situation with their boat. Jesus who wasn't even experienced in the art of boat riding brought them solution.

Prayers does not only cause you operate divine speed. It helps you become a solution to life's challenging issues and problems.

Engage prayers and speed in life, destiny and ministry would be yours.
Engage prayers and you'd be a solution to the world.
Engage prayers and you'd never suffer retardation.
